[1] 玉碎珠沉 – It’s an idiom that can be used to describe the death of a beauty. Decided to translate it literally because “jade” can also refer to the jade pendant that Luo Bing He’s adoptive mother gave him. His jade didn’t exactly ‘break’ but for 8 years (I guess? – LBH’s 3 years + SQQ’s 5 years) he had thought that it was gone. Or it could also be referring to a literal death like maybe…SQQ’s? Cuz who else could the beauty be? 😂
[2] Refers to the Sect that SQQ & LBH belong to, Cang Qiong Mountain Sect.
[3] Let me elaborate on this ‘Chun Shan’ (春山). For those that haven’t read the novel (Scum Villain Self Saving System / 人渣反派自救系统), “Resentment of Chun Shan/春山恨/Chun Shan Hen” is a story within the novel that a character had written shipping Shen Qing Qiu x Luo Bing He.
[4] 风月 can also mean ‘beautiful scenery’ but I feel like “this beautiful scenery is just an illusion” doesn’t fit in as well, especially considering that the line before mentions Chun Shan Hen.
I decided to do both the short and full version because I was almost done with the short version when I discovered the existence of the full version. (there really wasn’t a full version when I started on the short version)
Song-wise, I actually prefer the short version because there’s many parts in the full version where I feel that the lyrics don’t really mesh well with the melody.
BUT there’s many lines in the full version that hits me hard, right in my kokoro, and I refuse to suffer alone so here. You’re welcome. Heheheh.
